Holiday homes are once again in demand among private individuals as an investment
This is due to the low interest rates, making it more attractive to use savings to buy a holiday home.
This shows in a report from Bureau Stedelijke Planning, which was commissioned by real estate agents association NVM.
New holiday homes are in particular high demand. They are selling much better than older houses, which are increasingly being temporarily leased to divorced people and migrant workers.
In the past year, about 1,100 holiday homes were completed, compared to 400 homes in 2012. It's expected that new construction will increase further over the coming years.
